About the last week.

Not much surf around Saturday. South Side Malibu Club held their annual Charity Classic at Wanda in tiny surf. Despite the trying conditions Dane Wilson, who had flown down from his new home at Noosa, was able to pull off the win. Later in the day I took advantage of the stong offshore winds that were holding up some nice little shore dump waves at North Cronulla to get some images for the Oceanart Gallery. Some of the images are featured in the slideshow.

Sunday saw a rise in swell which enabled the EBC crew to finally get the inaugural Carve Dunny Bowl Challenge under way at Wanda. There was a great role up of surfers for the event including a couple of pro surfers from the Carve stable that turned up to support the event as well some of the past Dunny Hanger legends such as Rod "Katzap" Katis, Jason "Meakman" Meakins, Mark Macca and Batsey. The event was won by Drew Courtney, one of the Carve Pros that were on hand. Some stand out performnces though from some of the local lads including Rory Jenkins, Harrison Martin and Shane Campbell to name just a few.

Ryan Bridges and his energetic EBC crew must be congratulated for their effort to run the event. Lets hope that they are able to build on this years event for the future. It is just fantastic to actually have a truely home grown event rather than all the other events held in Cronulla that are driven from outside the area. Again congrats boys!

There are some photos included in the slideshow of the guys free surfing around the contest.
